Wild Wander
Wild Wander is a monthly walking club for parents and carers with babies, and for anyone who is expecting.
It's a chance to meet other like-minded people, explore new walking routes in and around York and enjoy the changing seasons around us.
Along the way we'll stop a couple of times to notice nature, take a mindful moment and share a few seasonal finds. No experience needed, just curiosity.
Pram friendly route, so prams or slings, you choose.
First walk: Wednesday 14th October, 10am to 11.15am
Meeting point: Outside The Dark Horse Cafe, Bishopthorpe Road
Price: £8 launch price (usually £10)
Booking is essential
The Dark Horse has kindly offered 10% off food and drinks after the walk. I'll give you a code word on the day.
Who's leading?
I'm Emma, founder of Wild Things York. I'm a qualified Forest School Leader with a background in primary teaching and children's centres, and I hold a first aid certificate.

FAQs
I'm pregnant, can I join in?
Absolutely. Being out in nature and meeting others is great for all of us.
Is a sling or pram best?
Most walks will suit both. If a route has rougher ground, I'll say so in the walk details.
What should I bring?
A drink, layers and a rain cover for the pram, plus anything you'd usually take out for your baby.
Will it be the same walk each month?
No. I'll plan new routes so we can make the most of our lovely city.
What happens if it rains?
We walk in most weathers. I'll only cancel or move the walk if there's a wind or storm warning, or heavy snow. If that happens, I'll let you know by text as early as I can.
Are tickets refundable?
I'm afraid not, but you're welcome to pass your ticket to a friend. Just let me know at least 24 hours before the walk.
Will there be toilets?
Toilets aren't guaranteed, so please go before you set off.
Is there parking?
I'll share nearby parking options for each walk. This might be on-street parking or a local car park.
Can I bring my dog?
As much as I love dogs, please leave them at home.
Can I bring my toddler?
These walks are for babies in prams or slings, so they aren't suitable for toddlers.
How far will we walk?
Usually around 2 to 3 miles at a gentle, chatty pace. Nobody gets left behind.
Can dads, grandparents or other carers come?
Yes, everyone caring for a baby is welcome.
